How to: Install Third-Party Apps on Kindle Fire
Do you have some applications in mind that you were not able to discover in the Amazon App Store? If that is what you are looking for, then you are successful. In this post, I’m going to share some tricks to set up applications from resources outside of the Amazon App Store that are from a third-party resource. And obviously, the major resource for you will be the Web. So, let me share the trick on how to install third-party apps on your kindle fire.
Device Configuration
When you are going to install apps on your Kindle Fire from a third-party, that means from an unknown source, you need to configure all the settings of your Kindle Fire so that it accepts app installation from the third-party or the unknown sources. So, what do you have to do? Let’s see the configuration below:
- At first, tap on the Settings icon, which is located at the top right corner of the home screen of your Kindle Fire.
- Now go to More from that menu
- Now you have tapped Device on the main Settings screen
- Here, you have to set Allow Installation of Applications From Unknown Sources to On
Install Apps using the Computer
Now your Kindle Fire is ready to get all the third-party apps installed, It’s time to install the apps. So, let’s see how to install the apps on Kindle Fire using your computer below:
- At first, go to Google so that you can search and find your desired app.
- Download the app once you’ve found your desired app.
- If the download file remains in a compressed form like ZIP or RAR you need to extract it to get the APK file. (Don’t know how to extract a compressed file with a ZIP or RAR extension? read this post)
- This time, you have to install a file manager on your Kindle Fire. To install a file manager on your Kindle Fire, you have to do a simple work that is: you have to go to the Amazon App Store and then search for file manager and you will get several. After you find a file manager app, just download and install the app.
- Now connect your Kindle Fire to your computer using a USB cable
- Now tap the Connect button, which will automatically appear on the screen of the device once connected.
- This time, you need to copy the APK file that you have downloaded from a third-party or unknown source.
- Now browse the folders of the Kindle Fire from your computer and paste the APK file on any of the folders of your Kindle Fire.
- When the file is successfully pasted into the folder, disconnect the Kindle from your computer. Tap the disconnect button first before pulling out the cable from your computer
- Now, open the file manager app on your Kindle Fire and look for the folder where the APK file was stored
- Tap on the APK file to install the app on your Kindle Fire
These are very points to go by in the installation of applications outside of the Amazon App Store.
